Need a Little Attention?
Feeling a little lost and lonely?
Looking for a quick career 'pick me up?'
Write a article that begins with "Why I Hate Blacks. "
I tell you, this writing game is getting dirty. Folks are sinking even further down into the cesspool for a glimmer of hope of being recognized. And right now I'm giving Kenneth Eng, the obviously disturbed young Asian man who writes (wrote, hopefully) for San Francisco's Asian Week newspaper, exactly what I believe he wanted from this - his five minutes of fame. Here's the response from Asian Week:
AsianWeek sincerely regrets any offense caused by the one opinion piece which reflected that author’s personal views. We apologize for any harm or hurt this has caused the African American community. AsianWeek has great respect for all that the African American community has done for Asian Pacific Americans.
AsianWeek’s operation and editorial policy are based on a philosophy of diversity. This includes fighting to promote diversity of opinion in our own community and even to expose its disturbing warts. It also includes a proven record on promoting cross-cultural diversity and inter-racial interaction. AsianWeek as an organization is proud of its deep and unparalleled history of working with, interacting with, and building connections between all the diverse groups that make up America.
Here's my question: How did the column get published? Did Eng slip it in without anyone noticing it? Did it just mysteriously appear out of thin air? Previous columns from Eng include Proof That Whites Inherently Hate Us and some good ol' fashioned self-loathing, Why I Hate Asians.
Let me be honest. There are days where I would like to write an article entitled "Why I Hate Whites," but would anyone publish a 10,000 - word article? Hell naw! Eng, hook a sista up, yo! The word floating around cyberspace is that Eng's articles serve as a way to open up dialogue about race and racism. Yeah, right.
I've stopped feeling too emotional about this type of racist drivel, as I believe that as much as his so-called article was the rantings of a man with some serious issues, there are alot of people who feel that way. We can't stop folks from feeling the way they do, but newspaper publishers and television networks where commentaries like this appear, can. So I can't hate on Eng too much. I just question the motives of the fine folks who run AsianWeek...oh and the Fox Network too.

I think you may do a disservice by posting this, and then referencing the key publishers as having perpetrated "a shame." It is more than a shame. It is a full fledged travesty that is directly linked to a mainstream "news" agency and that makes it that much more powerfully racist and impactual.
It serves to give more public permission for flagrant, raw hatred of Black folk which has a kind of potency that can spread like wildfire, and is already creeping in that direction in myriad other ways.
Thanks,

It's a shame articles centering on bigotry and hatred are still published and sold. I don't know what the appeal is in it. I hate me, I hate you, therefore, we should all get along? Some people's views are just beyond me.
